How to fix/replace a pull chain that has been pulled out of a ceiling Light Fixture?

This the second one this month. I live in an old house and I’ve pulled out two pull chains from ceiling light fixtures. I would really like to fix or replace it but need step by step instructions. Or can you tell me who I can call to help me do so?

The fixture end of chain usually sits in a yoke which gets pinched shut to hold the chain. If that mechanism is open on the side of the socket, then you can open the yoke and re-attach the chain. If it is closed, then you need to replace the socket or switch.

Depending, I may look into installing wall switches.
