5 Changing Bag Essentials You Can’t Live Without   by L J Mckeever

When it comes to taking trips out with your little one it can often feel as though you are planning a military operation. Packing the changing bag essentials can become stressful and you may worry about what will happen if you are caught short whilst out and about. Here are 5 changing bag essentials that should permanently remain resident in your changing bag, just to make sure you do not get in a flap whilst out on the town:

A spare change of clothes

Take a spare change of clothes for your baby. They tend to poo, wee and spew anywhere that is inconvenient. You may also want to take a spare top or cardigan for yourself, because those inconvenient places can extend to mummy too. If you use the spare change of clothes in your changing bag, make sure you replace it as soon as you get home so that you don’t have to rush around if you need to pop out all of a sudden.

Calpol

Teething, headaches, colds and sudden illnesses can strike at any time, including in the middle of a nice trip out. Make sure there are a few sachets of calpol in your changing bag ready for any unexpected ailments. For teething you may also want to keep some bonjela, teething gel sachets or a teething ring in your bag too.

A bib or muslin cloths

When feeding time arrives, be that from the breast, bottle or from a spoon, you will need to make sure that spare change of clothes isn’t used. Keep a bib or some muslin cloth handy to minimise any mess.

A travel changing mat

A lot of changing bags come complete with one of these, but not all do, so do invest in one if yours doesn’t. Not every place you visit will have adequate changing facilities, so a travel changing mat is essential for mid trip changes.

Hand gel

Finally, in the name of remaining hygienic, take some carex hand gel. Chaning a messy bottom and then preparing food is not hygienic, hand gel will save your baby from coming in to contact with nasty bacteria.
